　　Based on the original, Paranormal Activity 2 opens with home video footage of Kristi Rey (sister of Katie from the first film) bringing her newborn son Hunter home from the hospital. After an apparent break-in and burglary of their home (in which the only thing stolen is a necklace that Katie gave to Kristi) Kristi's husband Dan has a number of security cameras installed throughout the house, and the family starts to hear noises and see items fall or move on their own.

　　延续《鬼影实录》为摄像头的拍摄模式，《鬼影实录2》开片便引入克里斯蒂(《鬼影实录》女主人公凯蒂的姐姐)将刚出生不久的儿子亨特从医院抱回家这一场景。随后克里斯蒂家里遭入室盗窃，惟一不见的只有凯蒂送给克里丝蒂的一条项链。克里斯蒂的丈夫丹于是在家中各处安装了摄像头，不想一家人发现怪声不断，也不断有东西自己掉落或移动。

　　Although housekeeper Martine, believing evil spirits are the cause, attempts to cleanse the house of "evil spirits", Dan fires her. Ali, Dan's daughter from a previous marriage, begins investigating the mysterious happenings. She discovers that a human can make a deal with a demon for wealth or power by forfeiting the life of their firstborn son. She also realizes that until Hunter, there had not been a male child born in Kristi and Katie's family since the time of their great-great grandmother.
