　　Personal Statement

　　This is the key area of the application form and the one to which most attention is paid. It’s the only opportunity to sell yourself. Admissions Tutors are looking for a carefully crafted few paragraphs which will convince them to offer you a place. They want you to sell yourself to them.这是把你买个好价钱的唯一机会。

　　Why?

　　Admissions Tutors want to see clear logical reasons why you’ve chosen a course. You need to demonstrate that you have properly thought about what you want to do and why. Committed students who’ve put thought into their course choice are more likely to do well and less likely to drop out. 希望看到你选择某个专业的强有力的理由，你应该展示你想做什么以及为何如此？

　　Work Experience

　　Tutors will look for evidence of work experience, especially if it complements your course choice. They also like to see an indication of how you feel your work experience has benefited you, either personally or career wise. 工作经历，特别是如果这些工作经历与你的课程选择相符。

　　Personal Qualities

　　If you mention a particular quality that you have, give an example e.g. if you say you are well organised, then say you always meet deadlines for your assignments (but only if it’s true!!).性格特点，一定要真实啊！！

　　Your Contribution

　　Admission Tutors also look for some evidence that you have a contribution to make towards the course, for example evidence that you have good communication skills.

　　Other Interests

　　Tell them what you enjoy doing besides studying. It will help gain an impression of what kind of person you are.

　　DON’T WAFFLE BUT DON’T MAKE IT TOO BRIEF!不要夸夸奇谈，也不要过于简略

　　Separate out the statement into clear paragraphs or sections which discuss different aspects of your application.

　　Make sure that the information that you provide is clear, well presented and correctly spelt. For paper applications remember that your application will be reduced in size and if it is not well written and clear to start with, imagine how much worse it will be when it has been reduced!

　　Produce several practice copies and ask someone to read over and check your final draft for you. Also, make sure that the information you want to include fits into the space that you have on the application form. There’s nothing worse than if you have to make your writing smaller and smaller to fit it in or if you tail off because there is no space left! 提供的信息必须明确、表现有力、拼写正确。
