Jean Buffi is well regarded as a top high school science teacher.in Alberta. Although she teaches many sciences, she specializes in teaching Chemistry. This includes the international curriculums of the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs She has contributed to program development and school leadership through her service as Department Head. She also spent a year teaching at a college in New Zealand. Mrs Buffi has received numerous awards and recognitions for her teaching, has been a member of the national science committee and has developed science curriculum modules. She is currently working at an Outreach Program and providing mentorship for her two sons who are studying in the Education Faculty at the University of Alberta..

Mrs Buffi works at the Learning Store on Whyte. This is part of a district Outreach program that provides schooling on a drop-in basis at store front locations throughout the city in Edmonton, Canada. This program serves students who require only a small number of courses to complete their high school, and those who need to raise their marks to gain entry to post-secondary studies. Students are on individualized programs and attend part time, according to their educational needs.
