关于国际新闻的雅思作文范文

　　Some people think that secondary school students should study international news as one of their subjects; but others believe that it is a waste of their valuable study time. Discuss both views and give your opinion.有些人认为中学生应该将学习国际新闻作为他们的科目之一；但也有人认为这是浪费宝贵的学习时间，你认为呢？

　　Nowadays, there exist two different views regarding whether the study of international news should be an integral part of the curricula of secondary schools. It is necessary to put some thoughts into this issue.

　　Those who think studying international news is a waste of time might argue on the grounds that with the employment competition becoming ever fierce,students' top task is to focus on academic subjects, because, in their eyes, these subjects can bring an undoubted edge in job hunting. However, I do not think this view holds. The fast pace of globalisation results in the emergence of more and more multinational corporations which are interested in recruiting those who are not only academically excellent but, more importantly, internationally-minded. It is especially the case in some developing countries like China.

　　However, reaching the conclusion that international news study is important does not necessarily mean the same as suggesting that it should be one of their major subjects. In many countries, especially developing ones like China, many students are suffering from heavy study workload, which, unfortunately, leads to the phenomenon that an increasing number of students have been riddled with various physical and psychological problems. It is, therefore, not wise to add even one more subject.

　　International news study is undoubtedly important because it is not only what the constantly changing society requires but is also what makes secondary school students internationally conscious. The best choice, I think, is to make it a selective subject, since in doing so, students can benefit from it without interfering with other academic subjects.
