Ok then, well the place that I’d like to talk to you about was actually a show home that I went to visit with my parents, which was in a newly developed apartment complex not far from where we live. And I suppose it must have been about two or three weeks ago when we went there.

As for why we went there, well it was simply because we’re thinking of buying a flat as an investment. You know here in China, this is a very common thing to do, because investing in property is seen as being relatively risk-free. And some friends of ours who had already been there to have a look recommended that we also check it out .So we thought, why not!

Anyway, with regard to what the flat looked like, well basically, it was really nicely decorated, as you can probably imagine, what with it being a show home and all. For example, the floor was mostly marble, and there was a huge chandelier hanging above the dining table. So yeah, it all looked pretty impressive. I mean, even the wallpaper was nice, you know, it was, um… I’m not quite sure how to best describe it, but you could just tell it was really good quality from the feel and texture of it.

The only downside was the price, because I think it was something like twenty five thousand rmb a square metre, so the whole flat came to about four million, or somewhere thereabouts, which was a bit above our budget unfortunately!

I visited a pretty interesting house last summer. It is called Chengqilou. It is located in Fujian Province. It is an earthen round building and it covers a large area. It has two main gates and two side gates. The wall is very thick and stable. The tour guide there told me that it was built in 1709 and now it is listed as a world heritage.

All together it has four stories and each story has 72 rooms. The ground floor rooms are kitchens. The second floor is used to store grains. The third and forth floor rooms are living rooms and bedrooms. People who live in the earthen building are usually sharing the same surname. They choose to live together so that they can take good care of the clan and protect themselves from intruders.

I first saw the earthen building in a television program. Several celebrities took their sons and daughters there and spent a few nights. I was deeply attracted by this particular building. I found it pretty interesting. The building fully uses the scarce flat in mountainous areas. And different from common buildings which face to the same direction to the outside, the rooms in the earthen building all face to the interior and thus make up a large round building. No wonder it has attracted so many tourists.

I want to live in a big house with great views, so a house near a river or a park would be perfect.

A soft king size bed is on my must-have list, because after a long day’s work, I really need a good reston the comfy bed. And a walk-in closet with tons of clothes and accessories is every girl’s dream, I’m sure.

And also, the spacious bathroom must be equipped with a Jacuzzi, so every night before I go to bed, I can enjoy a relaxing bubble bath and release all of my pressure.

As a foodie, there has to be a variety of cookers in my kitchen. And a big oven is necessary ‘cause I like to bake my own cakes. Cooking is my favorite pastime, and I find it quite soothing. Making all kinds of dessert is my forte. Plus, I can invite my friends over and cook for them. That would be nice.

The entertainment facilities in my living room must be state of the art, like the fancy home theater and the Xbox, that way my guests would never feel bored because there’s so much to do in the house.

I’m also a dog person, so I’d like a room for my pet dog. I know puppies can be a little naughty, and they always make a mess, so a room of their own is a must.

In my spare time, I’m really into growing some plants and flowers, so a roomy sunlit balcony would be perfect for my hobby.

And as for the location, my house should be situated in the city center, because it would be convenient to get around and I’ll have easy access to all the public facilities. But the only downside is, the housing price might be a little high, so I might not able to afford it until I am 30 years old.
