People have divergent opinions as towhether the government should financially support the art and culture. Somepeople think it could bring benefits to the society while others believe not.Personally, governments should allocate money on culture and art if theireconomic conditions allow.

It is reasonable to assume that investingart and culture may have some drawbacks, especially for those unprivilegedcountries. It is true that art cannot enhance peoples living standarddirectly. If an underdeveloped country allocating large proportions of budget onart while neglecting peoples basic needs, its citizens may find it hard tolive a decent life. For example, they may lack the ability to provide access tomedical care and education. Hence, disadvantaged residents may be unable toenjoy long life expectancy and could not find satisfying occupations to supportthemselves.

However, investing funds in art and culturealso has its advantages both for individuals and the society. Firstly, artsprovide people with entertainment and yield various psychological rewards, suchas relief from stress. As a matter of fact, peoples well-being is not onlyabout the material contentment but also the spiritual satisfaction. Moreattention to art and culture can meet peoples spiritual needs, and enrichtheir cultural life. Then, as for the society, prosperous culture is also asign of a civilized city. A culturally rich environment will attract moretourists, which will bring huge profits to local residents as they can boosttourism and create more job opportunities.

As far as I am concerned, despite somepotential drawbacks for underdeveloped countries allocating subsidies on artand culture, it has more benefits in investing them provided they areeconomically allowed.
