The proportion of water consumption in three purposes from 6 regions ofthe world is revealed by these six pie charts.

To begin with, people in Europe use 53% (the highest figure compared with other areas) water for industry, closely followed by that of North America (48%). Figures for other regions are all under 12%, and only 5% of water use is shared to industry in Central Asia.

Additionally,over 70% of water use can be attributed to agriculture in Central Asia, Africa, South East Asia and South America, and the figure ofCentral Asia accounted for the highest 88%. By contrast, less than 40% of water consumption in North America (39%) and Europe (32%) is used for this purpose.

Besides,domestic use of water is relatively insignificant, since no more than 20% of water use is caused by this purpose in all areas. People in South America consume 19% of water for this item, followed by Europe,North America, Africa and the remaining two places in a descending order.

In summary, as we can readily see, in four areas agricultural use is always the most significant purpose of water consumption, except two regions North America and Europe where domestic use is the most dominant one.
