The rapid progress of industrialization not only makes human live better, but also causes massive undesirable impact on plant and animal species. Some people are very pessimistic about the fact and think humans can do nothing to change the worsening situation. Some other people are optimistic, believing that there are a lot of effective measures we can can to make things better.

There are so many evidences to prove that the damage human activities have caused on creatures is too grave to be recovered. Human beings need more lands, more materials, and more water to engage in massive production to maintain civilized lifestyle that is based on high consumption of natural resources. But the rapid depletion of natural resources has relentlessly destroyed the habitat of various kinds of plants and animal species. The wheel of history will never go backwards，so humans will never turn to agricultural civilization that is friendly to plants and animals. In addition, some species are already extinct, hence there is no way to bring them back from death and some are at the edge of becoming extinct even though humans have spent huge budget trying to save them from dying.

The facts are not promising, but if humans are determined to make a change, there are effective measures we can take to reverse the trend. Preserve zone for some special plants and animals can be set, where they can live freely and happily without disturbance of human activities. There are many successful examples of such zones in some countries, where the number of some rare animals is increasing steadily. In addition to preservation zone, some scientists are doing experiments by using clone and genetic technology to bring some extinct plant and animal species back. If the technologies are mature, one day we may possibly see some creatures that were living hundreds or even thousand years ago.
