The quality of individuality develops in various ways depending on ones innate personality and unique experiences. Nevertheless there are some noticeable trends that can be observed with respect to the states of dependence and independence in society nowadays, which will be further explored.

From one perspective, individuals are more dependent on each other as we currently live in an increasingly globalized society. Issues that occur in one part of the world have a direct impact on global trade, public health and even financial markets in all corners of the globe.

This can be exemplified by the most recent pandemic, which reached almost every single nation, not to mention the negative economic effects that ensued right after the spread of the pathogen. In a highly interconnected world, people are able to connect and communicate more with their loved ones using the latest technologies, which leads to increasing dependence on each other.

From another point of view, individuals are spending more of their waking hours using technology to complete their work or studies and even entertain themselves, without interacting with others. Youngsters also seem to grow up and mature faster in this day and age compared to the past. Moreover, people presently have fewer friends as they prefer to stay at home rather than go out with others.

All in all, there are ways in which people are more dependent and independent on each other. Nevertheless, the overall trend seems to be that a greater quantity of individuals insociety nowadays are becoming more independent.
